Alam
Khan
Major Teams: Government High School, Shaheen Cricket Club, Nashville
Cricket Club.
Right Hand Bat, Right Arm Fast
Contrary to his reputation as an unrefined slogger, set in stone
at the 2004 Australian Festival Cricket Championship, Alam is one
of the most skilful players in the game. He’s got the power
and the heart to send any bowling attack searching for cover. At
present he is one of several all-rounders in the team, able to swing
the ball sharply at surprising pace off a relaxed run-up. He’s
got the right attitude and aptitude to be a fast bowler. It is likely
that the Nashville Cricket Club will be built around him for some
years to come.
Ishfaq
Memon
Major Teams: Nashville Cricket Club.
Right Hand Bat, Right Arm Medium Fast
Ishfaq is a medium fast bowler and lower-order hard-hitting batsman.
He bowls with strength and stamina, and hits the bat hard from just
short of a length. He has gained success through the simple device
of bowling ramrod-straight at high pace and to a full length. He
has become established as one of the lynchpins of the side, and
has formed a reliable new-ball partnership with Tariq Ahmad. His
bustling medium-fast seamers and powerful middle-order batting gained
him respect from other teams. He is aggressive, confident and energetic,
and carries the fight to the very end.
Piyush
Sharma
Major Teams: Nashville Cricket Club.
Right Hand Bat, Right Arm Medium, Wicketkeeper
A punishing right-hand batsman and efficient wicketkeeper, Piyush
Sharma has been ever-present for Nashville Cricket Club since he
made his debut in 2004 season. One of the most elegant batsmen of
the club, he featured in every game, scoring 35 not out in NCC’s
win against Middle Tennessee State University and blasting 21 against
Indian Cricket Club in their last match of the season. His classical
flicks and drives off his legs are his trademark. He has proven
to be the most consistent batsmen in the side by providing necessary
runs at vital stages of important games. When he appeared in the
Music City Cricket Tournament 2004 as a guest player for Nashville
Occasionals, he single handedly won the final and the championship
for them. He has the potential and technique to play long innings
and dominate any bowling attack. Piyush also bowls useful off-cutters
and had a major role in rapping up ANZAC Wanderers inning for 31
in the Australian Festival Cricket Championship 2004.
Mayank Patel
Major Teams: Nashville Cricket Club.
Right Hand Bat, Right Arm Fast
He charges into the wicket, takes off at the crease like a less
athletic Imran Khan, and, when he resists the temptation to pitch
short, gets the ball to swing away from the right-hander. He has
yet to learn control – physically and mentally – but
with time and experience he could be right up there among the lethal
best. However, Patel's fielding rarely lets him down.

Mohammed Amer
Major Teams: Nashville Cricket Club.
Right Hand Bat, Right Arm Medium
A tenacious batsman with an upright stance, Amer is particularly
strong on the leg side and his play is reminiscent of Zaheer Abbas,
Mohammad Azaruddin, and Greg Chappell. He is a natural timer of
the ball, relying on an excellent eye rather than elaborate footwork,
and with a penchant for driving the ball on the up. A high back-lift
gives him a touch of elegance, and combined with powerful and supple
wrists guiding the ball into the gaps on both sides of the wicket,
he scores a very high proportion of his runs in boundaries.
Bimal
Shah
Major Teams: Maruti Cricket Club, Nashville Cricket Club.
Right Hand Bat, Right Arm Off Spin
Bimal’s potential was realized after his outstanding performance
in the 2004 Music City Cricket Tournament where he was crowned best
bowler of the tournament. He is a wicket-taking bowler and can spin
the ball at pace – almost like low, skidding medium off cutters.
He times the ball well and can hit it a long way. His character
short is the sweep over midwicket. He is a great thinking player
and has the ability to be a pinch hitter for NCC.
Waseem
Ghumro
Major Teams: Gulshan College, SA cricket club, Asif Iqbal Cricket
Academy, Karachi City Cricket Association, Nashville Cricket Club.
Right Hand Bat, Right Arm Medium
Waseem started his cricketing career as a youth in his teens. The
best coaches in the world at Asif Iqbal Cricket Academy guided him
well. He made his first break through when he was selected in the
Karachi City Cricket Association under 16 side. Even though he has
found it difficult to make a permanent place in the side, his innings
of 27* against MTSU in the 2004 season showed that he has attained
a level of maturity to move up the ranks. Waseem has yet to attain
his true potential and his future with the club seems to be a bright
one.
Zahid
Kirmani
Major Teams: Nashville Cricket Club.
Right Hand Batman, Right Arm Medium
An all rounder marred by injuries in 2004, Zahid Kirmani will be
looking to make a comeback in the 2005 season. His ability to keep
a cool head in tense situations makes him a tough competitor. We
will have to wait and see what Zahid has in stock for the 2005 season.
In the brief time he appeared in the 2004 season, he has impressed
many with his skill full batting and bowling.
Mohsin Giwani Sunny
Major Teams: Nashville Cricket Club.
Right Hand Bat, Right Arm Fast
Sunny is a stylish batsman and a strapping but skiddy fast bowler
who seems to have the world at his feet as a youngster. Though of
small build, Sunny can work up good pace and has an aggressive attitude.
His greatest contribution is his athletic agility, speed, and vigilance
in the field. His most famous moment came in the match against Indian
Cricket Club when after diving to stop a single, effectively ran
out the batsman who didn’t even have time to turn around for
an attempt to make it back to his crease. It was like watching Jonty
Rhodes at point. Despite his immense potential Sunny seemed to have
not performed to his abilities in the 2004 season.
