NCC played a 25 overs match with Nashville Cricket Association (formerly Nashville Indian Cricket Club) Occassionals Cricket Club at Rhodes Park (Metro Center).

NCA won the toss and decided to bat. Arun and Jaydeep oppened the innings, Arun was out first – LBW to Damian. Emill got hit around quite a bit. NCA started scoring at an average of 5 to 6 runs an over. Ashfaq, Mayur and Mark bowled quite well. Mark bowling off-spinners got into good rhythm and got two wickets. Mayur came-in at the crucial phase of the game and bowled with tidy line and length. NCA ended up with a decent score of 162 for nine.

Bowling: Ashfaq (4 overs, 1 for 32), Mayur (5 overs, none for 19), Kishore (3 overs, 3 for 22), Mark (5 overs, 2 for 24), Damian (3 overs, 1 for 9), Emill (5 overs, 1 for 40).

We started with Sunny and Emill, Sunny was in his usual form, scored 17 runs in the first over. Emill was out for 4, Sunny kept one end and scored with great ease. Mayur got out for 2, Kishore and Sunny had good partnership. In 12 overs we were 78 for three and cruising. After Kishore, Mark stepped in but did not last long, Arun got him caught at deep mid wicket for 8. But like it happens always…we lost quick wickets. Damian had quick fireworks scoring 20. In 19 overs we were 109 for six and needed 57 in 9 overs. Lyder and Chintu had good partnership; Chintu hit a six at a crucial time and started scoring one’s and two’s. Lyder was out at 12. Now we needed 12 in the last two overs. Chintu and Ashfaq scored 8 in 24th over, needing 4 in the last over. Here is the last over:

Ball 5 – Mayank out – LBW…Last man - Naveed steps in, one ball 2 runs to win
Ball 6 – The bowler bowls a little short of length ball, batsman pushed it down the pitch pass the outstretched hands of the bowler; bowler could not field it and with all the fielders inside the circle (to save single) NCC scored the much needed two runs to win the game.

Batting Stats: Sunny 42 (2 sixes, 4 fours), Chintu 32 (1 six), Damian 20 (1 six), Lyder 12 (1 four), Mark 9, Kishore 8, Emill 4, Naveed 2 not out, Mayur 2, Ashfaq 1 not out.

NOCC gave 36 extras with 20 wides.

It was our best bowling performance against a good batting team.
