Match Report
Jonesboro Cricket Club - Arkansas
at Nashville
June 25'2005
JCC won the toss and elected
to bat. Their batsmen started pretty well, a couple of fours in
the first over. Ashfaq and Alam bowled quite well. First wicket
went to Alam, with a well judged catch at mid off. Ashfaq kept quite
a good line and length. Khawar hit our bowlers all over the ground.
But finally he fell to Dawood with a good catch by Mayur. Mayur
had a great day on the field; he had two good catches and two wickets.
Ashfaq 2 for 19 in 5 overs, Alam 1 for 20 in 3 overs, Dawood 3 for
53 in 4 overs, Mayank 1 for 21 in 3 overs, Naveed 1 for 8 in 1 over,
Mayur 2 for 29 in 3 overs, Twenty extras. JCC ended up scoring 170
in a 25 overs match.
NCC started pretty slow, in 7 overs we were 22 for 1. Then just
like the previous game, Piyush started picking up, with solid support
from Lyder, Amer and Ashfaq he built quite a solid inning. We needed
50 in the last five overs. At that point Ashfaq had quick fireworks
with two long sixes. Amer was scoring steady on the other end. In
the last over we needed 12. Ashfaq hit another four, and a few two’s.
On the last ball we were 169 for 5. Needed one to tie and two to
win, Mother Nature decided to step in …. it started raining
quite hard and the game had to be stopped due to heavy rain. JCC
players felt it was quite dangerous to play on the ground as it
is getting quite wet and they left.
NCC Batting: Piyush
(68), Amer (30), Dawood (18), Ashfaq (17 not out), Lyder (15), Alam
(6), Mayur (5)
Here is match result analysis
from a cricket expert:
JCC scored 170 all out in their 25 overs (once a team is all out
we still consider 25 overs as the total over bowled even though
they did not use all 25) and when the match was abandonded due to
weather NCC were 169/6 (scores tied) after 24.5 (one ball left).
In such a situation JCC's RP (resource percentage) (R1) was 100%
(i.e., they used all their resources), NCC's RP remaining (R2) with
1 ball left and six wickets lost was 100-98.5=1.5% (98.5 comes from
the D/L table). With R2 less than R1, NCC's winning target was (170x98.5/100=167.45)+1,
i.e., exactly 168 at 24.5 overs (rounded).
