June 05'2004: NCC played a 30 overs match with John Paul Gymkhana (JPG) in Atlanta on June 05 (Saturday). Lyder, Mark and Emill from NOCC filled in for a few NCC players.

On a good pitch (clay surface under coir matting), NCC won the toss and elected to bat. Openers Lyder and Naveed scored 34 in 8 overs before Lyder lost patience and caught at long on. Lyder had 13 with couple of fours. Then Mark stepped in and as the wickets fell on regular intervals (Naveed (17), Sunny (23), Tariq (4)), Mark kept one end and scored quite freely. It was not till last few overs, when ball started flying all over the ground. When all set and done...Mark was 100 not out. Sunny played a gutsy innings of 23. NCC scored 183 for seven in thirty overs.

JPG started the inning quite poorly and lost two quick wickets. Mark bowled an exceptional spell of five overs and took 3 wickets. On the other end Emill kept the pressure with his consistent bowling and took two wickets. Tariq bowled well and got two wickets. Sunny and Mayank bowled with tight line and length. Ramesh had the last man out in front of wickets with his sharp leg spin. There were two run-outs. Lyder was spectacular behind the stumps. He had two catches and helped with two run outs. JPG was all out at 63 in 22 overs.

A few families accompanied the team to Atlanta. JPG club did an outstanding job in hosting the match. In all it was fun day with some excellent cricket and good food.
