Georgia Supreme Cricket League

April'2008 Nashville VOLS lost the openning match to Vibes in a Georgia Supreme Cricket League match. [Score Card]

Jan'2008 NCC alongwith two other cricket clubs in Nashville agreed to field a joint Nashville team to participate in 'Georgia Supreme Cricket League' starting mid April. The combined team will play under the name Nashville Vols. Nashville team will travel to Atlanta to play 5 matches and various teams from Atlanta will visit Nashville. A three member committee (Arun Paul, Calvin Burnet and Naveed Khan) will manager all the affairs of this team.

Nov'2007 NCC (Vols) beat Memorials Cricket Club in the finals of Sarasota Cricket tournament to win 2007 Presidents Cup. Alam, Bimal, Ashfaq, Peter, Mike and Naveed represented NCC Vols in this exciting tournament. In the tournament we had 5 wins and a loss. In the finals we scored 73 (7 overs) and restricted Houston to 53. Alam, Bimal and Ashfaq had great batting performances

May'2007 NCC won 6-a-Side tournament in Atlanta. A number of top teams in Atlanta participated in this tournament. In the league matches we fielded two teams NCC Seamers (Kishore – Captain, Alam, Naseer, Zaheer, Bimal, Gideon) and Beamers (Sunny – Captain, Mayur, Anish, Murali, Zameer, Anant). Both teams won two games each and lost one. Beamers reached the final with better run rate. In the final we combined the teams and fielded a team from NCC: Sunny – Captain, Alam, Kishore, Bimal, Mayur, Anish.

November 2007: NCC Tigers beat NCA easily to win 2007 Six-A-Side Music City cricket tournament. Batting first NCA scored 123 in 10 over. NCC batsmen had a great start with 40 runs in first two overs. NCC reached the target in 7 overs. Gideon 25 not out, Zaheer 27 no, Alam 29 no, Ashfaq 28 no and Mayank 6 no out. It was great display of attacking batting by NCC.

Alam was ‘Best Batsman of the Tournament’ with 94 runs, Gideon had 84, Zaheer had 81. Ashfaq had ‘Best Bowler of the Tournamnet’ award.

Nov'2006
NCC met Memorials Cricket Club in the finals of Sarasota Cricket tournsment and lost by a narrow margin. In the league matches, NCC had a perfect 4-0 record and in the semifinal NCC scored the highest score of 10+ years of tournament history. Ten teams from the various clubs and countries participated in this six-a-side tournament. [Photo]

Cricket Season 2005: NCC completed year 2005 regular season with 10 wins and a loss. Team from East Tennessee State University visited NCC on November 13. NCC won this 25 overs game. Earlier on Nov 6th, NCA handed NCC the only loss of the season. NCC scored 148 in 28 overs that NCA achieved quite easily. Mark and Arun Paul had good batting innings.

October 08'2005 - Murfreesboro Cricket Club won the third Annual Music City Cricket Tournament by beating NCC Seamers in the finals. Six teams from the states of Tennessee and Kentuchy participated in this day-night tournament. [Details] [Photo]

Oct 01'2005 - NCC steals a last ball victory from Nashville Indian Cricket Club to continue their flawless 9-0 season. NICC scored 162 in 25 overs, with 2 runs needed on the last ball to win, NCC batsmen scored the runs for an exciting win. [Details]

Sep 11'2005 - Metropolitan Cricket Club of Atlanta won Australian Festival Cricket tournament by beating NCC in the finals. Mahir with 49 and Bimal 25 were top scorers from NCC. [Photo]


On July 04th, a local TV channel FOX 17 aired a short news item on Nashville Cricket Club and Cricket in Nashville. The file is in Windows Multimedia format. [Watch the clip]

NCC played a couple of cricket matches with NOCC (25 overs) and Barlett Cricket Club of Memphis (30 overs) on July 16 and July 24. NCC players won the both matches. [Details]


As part of July 04th clelebrations, Nashville cricket players from NCC and NOCC played two cricket matches with Metropolitan Cricket Club of Atlanta at Rhodes Park cricket pitch in Nashville. [Details] [Photo]

NCC hosted Jonesboro Cricket Club of Arkansas for 25 overs cricket match at Rhodes Cricket field. Piyush from NCC and Khawar from JCC played good innings. One June 19th, NCC visited Memphis for 30 overs match. NCC won the hard fought match with 4 wickets. [Details]]


May 22'2005
- NCC travelled to Jonesboro, Arkansas to play 25 overs match with Arkansas Cricket Club. Batting first NCC scored 227 for seven. ACC bowled out at 160. Alam (52), Sunny (52), Lyder (48), Piyush (38) and Chintu (24) batted well, Naseer took 4 wickets, Mayank and Alam 2 each. [Photo]

NOCC wins first 2005 'Tigers Indoor Cricket Tournament' at Kean Hall - Tennessee State University March 05' 2005 (Saturday). It was 7 a side, 7overs each indoor cricket tournament. Six teams participated. Piyush Sharma from NCC Seamers won 'Player of the tournament' award. Vice Mayor of Nashville, Mr. Howard Gentry stopped by to watch matches and meet players. [Photo]

 

Sarasota Trip 2007

Dec 2007: NCC 2007 Season End party - Around 50 players and family members attended the year end party hosted at NCC's president Naveed Khan's house. Everyone enjoyed an impressive collection of ethnic food, games and music. Here were the awards:

Regular Season (League):Best Batsman Gideon (scored most runs for the club) - Best Bowler Zaheer (took most wickets for the club) - Best Fielder Ryan

6-A-Side Season: We had a great season in this version of cricket. We won three tournaments (in Atlanta, Nashville and Sarasota). Best Batsman Alam - Best Bowler Ashfaq - Best Allrounder Bimal

NOCC wins 2007 Tennessee Cricket League - NOCC beat NCA in the finals. This year four teams participated in the league. 25 overs matches were played at Phodes Park ground and Whites Creek School ground. Each team played a total of 9 league matches.

2006 Cricket Season - NCC wins the first Tennessee Cricket League Championship

NCC beat NCA in the finals to win the first 2006 TCL championship. Teams from various clubs joined hands and started the first ever cricket league in Nashville. Initially three clubs - Nashville Cricket Club, Nashville Cricket Association and Franklin Cricket Club are playing in the league. Clubs will play 6 matches each. Matches are being played at Rhodes Park Cricket Ground and Whites Creek Scool. Top two teams will meet in finals on Oct 21'2006.

NCC will play NCA in the league finals. NCC topped the league with better run rate. All three teams ended up with 3 wins and 3 losses. In the last league match NCC humbled FCC with 103 runs win.

April 2005 - NCC visited Hunters Bend Elementary School on April 8th to introduce second graders to the sport of cricket. This workshop provided students the opportunity to learn about the history and basics of game, as well as try batting and bowling. The kids demonstrated their enthusiasm with cheers as their peers batted and bowled and at times knocked down the wickets! Cricket gear was passed around for the students to examine and one child demonstrated how to wear the safety gear. It was a morning enjoyed by all, and Nashville Cricket Club appreciates the hospitality of the PE department during our visit. [Photo]

April 2005 - NCC Cultural division in collaboration with RadiAsian arranged cultural show at OpryLand hotel for Dish Network gatering. The artists presented Southasian dances. [Photo]

NCC Tigers Youth team participates in 2004 Australian Festival Cricket on the Parthenon lawn! It was a beautiful sunny Saturday as the NCC Tigers ran on the field in their uniforms to participate in the 2004 Australian Festival held September 9-12 at Nashville’s beautiful Centennial Park.

NCC Introduces 'SoftCricket'. 'SoftCricket' is a shortened and fast-paced version of cricket designed especially for children learning the game. While being fun for the players, it teaches the fundamentals of the game and allows those wishing to continue on to more traditional versions of cricket to continue on with a thorough understanding of the basics.
