Nashville
Cricket Club joins hands with other community service organizations
to help the needy
As the cold winter hits the
Nashville area, utility bills go up and many poor families face
the difficult decision of whether to pay for heat or food. Some
lose their job, are hit by a natural disaster such as a fire or
tornado and others are elderly without sufficient income to buy
food.
In an effort to help those in need, the Pakistan American Friendship
Association, along with Nashville Cricket Club and Bright Beginnings
joined together to donate food and assemble crisis feeding boxes
which will be distributed by the American Red Cross to families
facing hunger when Second Harvest Food Bank is closed.
The children made cards of good wishes for each box. They then picked
up a sack and packed the required items such as tuna, soup, vegetables,
fruit rice, crackers, peanut butter and beans, in the bag placing
their card on top. Completed bags gathered in the corner and grew
to a quantity of 67 bags as the event winded down!
The children were truly “stars”
for their efforts in serving the community and they decorated stars
to wear around their necks. The children were also presented a certificate
for participating in this community project.
The Bellevue fire department stopped by with their fire truck to
talk to the kids about fire safety and let them tour the fire truck.
