Club Rules and Regulations

Code of conduct for club members:

The ideals of good sportsmanship, ethical behavior and integrity permeate our Club's culture. The values of good citizenship and high behavioral standards apply equally to all activity disciplines. In perception and practice, good sportsmanship shall be defined as those qualities of behavior, which are characterized by generosity and genuine concern for others. Further, awareness is expected of the impact of an individual's influence on the behavior of others. Good sportsmanship is viewed by the Club as a concrete measure of the understanding and commitment to fair play, ethical behavior and integrity. The essence of good ethical conduct and practice is summarized below. All players must:

-Consider the well-being and safety of other players during the practice and matches.

-Develop and appropriate working relationship with other club members, based on mutual trust and respect.

-Show respect for opponents by shaking hands with them.

-Accept the decisions of contest officials.

-Avoid offensive gestures or language.

-Display modesty in victory and graciousness in defeat.

-Follow/learn the rules of the game.

-Show respect at all times for captains, coaches, opponents and game officials.

-Show respect for public property and equipment.

-Promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play)

-Display consistently high standards of behavior and appearance.

-Never exert undue influence over other members to obtain personal benefit or reward.

-Follow the directions from Captain of the team during a match or practice game, on and off the field. Club management will appoint captain for games.

-Never condone rule violations, rough play or the use of prohibitive substances.
-Members must wear proper kit during practices and matches. For matches with other teams and tournaments cricket whites (white trousers, white top or Club’s shirt) must be worn.

-Always wear correct protection when batting or wicket keeping – Make sure to ask onsite administrator, captain or club’s official to provide necessary protective equipment, however it is important that each player provides their own protective box.

-Be on time for practices and matches. Club will post the schedule on Web site (www.nashvillecricketclub.com) and will email registered players the details of the games.

Safety:

Every player needs to exercise safety and caution during practice sessions and matches. A batsman shall not pad up in such a position on the field that his body is exposed to the ball being struck by the batsman in the nets. Those not batting shall keep their eyes on the ball unless they are secure behind the nets. The bowler who walks back to the mark should be careful about the balls being struck. While bending to pick the ball near the bowlers’ run-up area, watch out for other bowlers who may be running in. A batsman must equip himself with proper cricket gear.

Physical Fitness:

The importance of fitness can never be overstated. The game can go on for several hours in a day. If a player is not fit, he is more likely to commit a mistake from fatigue. It is rather important for players to devise a training schedule. The Club does not advise for a player to turn up at matches while not being in regular practice. As a means of limbering up before practice, all players are required to do some running, floor exercises and stretches, and short sprints before the practices and games. Please consult a physical trainer on the type and schedule of exercises best suited for cricket.

Equity policy statement:

This club is committed to ensuring that equity is incorporated across all aspects of its development. In doing so it acknowledges and adopts the following definition of sports equity:

Sports equity is about fairness in sport, equality of access, recognizing inequalities and taking steps to address them. It is about changing the culture and structure of sport to ensure it becomes equally accessible to everyone in society.

The club respects the rights, dignity and worth of every person and will treat everyone equally within the context of their sport, regardless of age, ability, gender, race, ethnicity, religious belief, sexuality or social/economic status.

The club is committed to everyone having the right to enjoy their sport in an environment free from threat of intimidation, harassment and abuse. All club members have a responsibility to oppose discriminatory behavior and promote equality of opportunity.

The club will deal with any incidence of discriminatory behavior seriously, according to club disciplinary procedures.

Any player not complying with the NCC Club Rules will be subjected to the club’s disciplinary procedures which may include expulsion from the club.
